As a Technical Operations Engineer within Google’s IT Support Technician team, you’ll play a key role in keeping Google running smoothly. You’ll provide technical support and IT operations guidance to internal teams, helping troubleshoot complex Linux-based issues, optimizing workflows, and driving long-term efficiency.

About the Team:

You’ll be working within the Platforms and Devices team—responsible for building seamless, high-performance computing experiences across Google’s software platforms, mobile and desktop environments, and first-party hardware devices. This group is at the forefront of integrating AI with software and hardware to create truly innovative tools and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer remote and on-site technical support for engineers across platforms and tools.
  • Perform deep-dive root cause analysis and resolve IT-related technical issues.
  • Collaborate with peers, vendors, and other support teams to improve processes and resolve technical challenges quickly.
  • Build and maintain automation scripts and tools to optimize workflows.
  • Lead and manage IT technical projects from planning through delivery.
  • Evaluate and report the business impact of your technical projects with data-driven insights.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience in IT operations, Linux troubleshooting, networking, or technical support.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Exposure to high-performance computing (HPC) tools and infrastructure.
  • Ability to understand technical workflows, identify pain points, and propose improvements.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-first mindset.
